Tommy is a happy-go-lucky Italian Greyhound that is fond of eating. He is a bit on the heavy side at 16 pounds. His normal weight should about 13 pounds and will need to have his food intake restricted, as he will gorge himself if not controlled.

Tommy is very curious and will walk around on his two back legs trying to see what's above him. He is like a spring that’s wound too tight and is constantly bouncing around on his hind feet. When he is ready to come inside you can see his little head bobbing up and down through the window.

Tommy is very warm and affectionate and likes to snuggle with you. He likes walking or a riding in the car, especially if he has a perch to see what's going on around him. He has a very outgoing personality and seems to do well with children and animals his size. Tommy had to undergo dental work after his physical exam showed some problems. He was given Rabies, 5 way, and Bordetella shots. Rabies is good until Dec 7, 2007.

Greyson                                                        AVAILABLE

  • Listing Agent:  Sighthound Adoption and Fostering Center
  • Location:  Boise, ID
  • Sex: Male
  • Age: 11+ Years
  • Coat: Smooth Coat, Grey
  • Weight: 12 lbs.
  • Activity LevelSpecial Needs

Greyson’s lower jaw is split. Each side moves independently because the bones never grew together, probably because of malnutrition. Greyson has lost his teeth, also his lower jaw has receded so far it makes it extremely difficult for him to feed himself. Because of Greyson’s jaw problems, his food has to be soft or pulverized and he has to be hand fed because he gets frustrated and would sometimes rather not eat than to struggle with it. Greyson will require his thyroid medication twice a day and regular attention to his mouth to insure good health.

We are happy to report that Greyson has surmounted all his difficulties due to the good work of the veterinarians watch the world outside. He likes to be chased around the house but he is so agile and quick you could never catch him.

Gretchen                                         ADOPTED

  • Listing Agent: Idaho Humane Society
  • Location:  Boise, ID
  • Sex: Female
  • Age: 4 Years
  • Coat: Smooth Coat, Brown
  • Weight: 20 lbs.
  • Activity Level:  Active Companion

Gretchen seems to be a well-adjusted girl who is very lively, with a bubbly personality. She enjoys being held and cuddled, and likes to sprint with the other Italians. She is a fast runner and always leads by several lengths in front of the pack.

Gretchen still has a lot of reservation when being handled by people she doesn’t know but will accept them if they are calm and show a little patience. It may have been caused by the distress of her capture, as she is getting much more relaxed with us, and her environment.

We are fostering Gretchen for the humane society. If you are interested in her we will start the adoption process and then complete the final paperwork with you at the Humane Society. Her number is 99028. She was found running around loose in the Bogus Basin Road area and had to be darted to be contained.

Gretchen has been spayed and had her initial vaccinations and her rabies shots. She is due for her booster shot on the 4th of November. She is not micro chipped.

If you would like more information, please contact SAFC. or call Idaho Humane Society at 1- 208-342-3508

Charlie is a three-year-old male Black and White Italian Greyhound. He was adopted out and returned a year later because he developed seizures. Charlie was tested by our vet to confirm his condition and placed on Phenobarbital to control his seizures. He has been on medication for several months now and we have not witnessed any more seizures. Charlie’s seizures are being controlled but he must be given the proper dose of Phenobarbital, twice a day, the rest of his life.

Charlie is very shy, a bit introverted, and quivers a lot when not in his normal environment. It will take boy that enjoys very much being held and loved on.

Charlie seems to respond well to other dogs his size and enjoys running and playing with them, forgetting his timidness. He is usually a very quiet dog and seldom barks but will sometimes whine for your attention.
